Make Her Space: One Woman's Homelab Journey |
Abstract
Homelabs. A valuable addition to a growing resume, a safe environment for experimentation - of the computing kind - and a way to sharpen those technical skills. Yet for many, particularly those shifting into cyber security mid-career, this is not as easy as it sounds. In this session, we’ll discuss some of the barriers to homelab adoption and methods of overcoming these through the lens of someone still in the process of breaking stuff. For those wondering how to make it work themselves, or hoping to help others, this session offers a positive, community-oriented discussion on the benefits of collaboration. Speaker Bio: Claire Carpenter is a consultant for Bluerydge working as a Technical Vulnerability Analyst. She has over a decade in threat analysis, advising on all dimensions from physical security to information assurance, with the last few years spent guiding security software development. Recently coming over to the blue team with a Masters in Digital Forensics, she brings a pragmatic approach to complex cyber problems. |
