The Human Cost Behind Digital Threats |
Abstract
Too often, the human element is overlooked in cybercrime. Our keynote speaker, Hayley Van Loon, deputy CEO of Crimestoppers International, explores how criminal networks use digital platforms to recruit, exploit, and harm individuals, while emphasising the real-world impacts of financial fraud and cyber extortion. Hear why the focus of effective responses must transcend firewalls and technical defences, and instead should integrate cyber expertise with empathy, victim support, and building community resilience in order to address the human vulnerabilities that criminals exploit.
