BSides Melbourne are running a rookie / n00b track in 2020. This is to help encourage first time speakers take the stage and discuss their research or work. We have some amazing mentors who are offering their time to work and help equip speakers with the skills needed to feel prepared and be successful.

Emily EdgeleyEmily Edgeley helps transform people from being unsure about presenting or simply ‘talking to slides’, to being able to influence and inspire an audience to action confidently.
When Emily started in the workforce, she was crippled with fear about presenting. However, she was determined to not only conquer that fear, but to learn the techniques and secrets of the world’s best speakers, in order to master this critical life skill. Over a period years, she made that her mission and now passes on those lessons to others. She is a past President and Vice President Education of ‘Off The Cuff’ Toastmasters Club which saw her coach and evaluate members on their presenting skills and organise quarterly Speechathons. She regularly runs storytelling, presenting or pitching workshops and 1:1 coaching. She’s constantly reading books about the power and art of presenting, refining a message or storytelling and regularly shares relevant tips on LinkedIn. |
Kirstin McIntoshKirstin McIntosh is the Head of Partnerships for CyRise, Australia’s cyber security venture accelerator where she works with some of most technically adept and ambitious minds of the cyber security community. She supports their growth with startup skills, customer introductions , and investor links. Before this, Kirstin worked in Europe and Asia in business development in the private sector, and corporate partnership roles in public sector for over 23 years before returning to Australia in 2017 and moving into startups. Kirstin holds an MBA from IMD in Switzerland, and a B.Comm from University of Melbourne.

Wayne RonaldsonWayne Ronaldson is an experienced tester, having conducted security assessments for a range of leading organisations. He has expertise in red team assessments, physical, digital and social, and has presented to a number of organisations and government departments on the current and future state of the cyber security landscape. Wayne has also presented at Derbycon, DEF CON and RSA USA.

Tracie ThomsponTracie has pitched HackHunter at Demo Days (Startmate, CyRise, SBE Australia), pitching competitions (StartupVic, Tech23, Pitch@Palace) and Conferences (Pacific 2019, RSA Unplugged) since July 2018, and has appeared on panels at the CyRise Roadshow and with AustCyber at the Industry 4.0 Advanced Manufacturing Conference.

Lidia GiulianoLidia has been in the Information Security industry for over 15 years, with experience spanning the DoD, financial, retail and telecommunication sectors. Her passion is testing and building technology to learn new concepts. She is a speaker coach for Black Hat USA Speaker Coach Program, is a past speaker at Black Hat USA, Black Hat Asia, SecTor, Diana Initiative, AppSecDay and KiwaiiCon.
