Lessons learnt from responding to cyber attacks |
Abstract
The Victorian Government Cyber Incident Response Service and BAE Systems share key lessons learned from their partnership over the past 18 months, which involved a number of incidents across various government departments as well as response to one of the largest cyber-attacks in Australia. The session will provide an overview of cyber-attacks and key insights relating to technical, governance and communications aspects of cyber incident management. Participants will have the opportunity to learn from this experience to improve their own cyber incident management practices. Speaker Bio: Jacob is a Cyber Security Consultant for BAE Systems Applied Intelligence based in Melbourne, primarily focused on Incident Response and Analyst as a Service. Previously worked for NAB within their CSOC performing roles ranging from Incident Response, Malware analysis & Threat Hunting. James is an Advisor for Cyber Incidents and Emergency Management with the department of Premier and Cabinet (Victoria), he is also a part of the Whole of Victorian Government Cyber Incident Response Service (CIRS) where he provides whole of government coordination for cyber security incidents. Previously worked as a Security and Infrastructure Engineer in the Health Sector and he has a background in Enterprise Networking and System Administration. |
