Cyber Startup 101 |
Abstract
Many Australian cybersecurity professionals are interested in founding or working at a startup at some point during their career. Australia has world class cybersecurity talent and a lot of untapped startup potential, but there is a lot of confusion about startups, and many would-be founders aren’t sure how to begin. This talk provides a broad overview, from the perspective of a founder, of what it takes to start a cyber product company in Australia, and how you can decide if the journey is for you, and what to do next. Speaker Bio: Vaughan is co-founder and CEO of Cydarm Technologies, a Melbourne-based startup that has built a secure case management platform for cybersecurity incident response. Vaughan first developed an appreciation for information security 20 years ago while working as a UNIX systems administrator. Before founding Cydarm, Vaughan worked at a Silicon Valley-based data analytics vendor, after almost 10 years at the Department of Defence, leading devops teams and driving analytic modernisation efforts. |
