OSINT-ing your way through to a dream job - Targeted Approach! |
Abstract
When I first landed in Australia and started my job hunt 2 years back while I was on a student visa, I didn’t knew where to get started. After some involvement in a community-based events, local meetups, some bits of Human Intelligence (HUMINT) / Social Media Intelligence (SOCMINT), random chatter in the slack and other communication mediums, finding the pieces and connecting the dots, I got started as a Penetration tester for a year now, in spite of the visa conditions (Student visa holders are obliged to work part time) after applying the targeted OSINT strategy. Anyways, this talk will be specially focused on getting your foot onto the infosec domain, hunting jobs in a targeted approach and using open source intelligence gathering strategy for a better success on the job hunt. Building up your network, developing social engineering skills and walking pass the HR like a boss - which would be a major highlight of this talk. Disclaimer: If you are already an 31337, this might not be what you are after though! : ) Speaker Bio: Nitesh aka Neat is a network security graduate, a penetration tester by day, occasional bug bounty hunter, a person who scratches the internet while bored for some SOCMINT/HUMINT feeds, and a guy who is anytime ready to volunteer in a community driven infosec events - previously volunteered in Bsides Canberra, Bsides Sydney to name a few. He was also a scholar of Black Hat USA 2019 and is heavily active/engaged in local security community. Ah! he also posts some random stuff under @MrMeterpreter (PS: Now offline for a while). |
