Abstract
In 2018, approaching v4.0, Jocasta decided it was time for a change and to finally decide what she really wanted to be when she grew up. Evaluating what opportunities best suited her personality, skills, and experience she chose cybersecurity; although didn't end up taking the path in that she expected or planned. Taking you on the highlight and lowlight reel of her education and career journey so far, starting with a B.Com in New Zealand, time in the oil and gas industry in Canada, to freelance digital marketing, postgrad study and now working in security in Australia. Jocasta has found a very fulfilling and bright career in the industry and is committed to helping others do the same. This talk aims to leave you inspired on how she got there, how her unrelated previous roles wove an unexpected path to where she is now. Logistics, marketing, and study have been some of the ingredients in this career change tale. Speaker Bio: Jocasta is a Security Analyst at SEEK focussed on vendor risk management and a volunteer at the Australian Women in Security Network (AWSN). Multi-passionate her career has seen her working in several industries and countries including transport and logistics in New Zealand, oil and gas marketing in Canada, digital marketing and now information security in Australia. Through it all she is most excited by learning new things, process improvement, and providing exceptional customer service. She is excited to have transitioned into the security industry and eager to help others do the same. |
