Abstract
Pip Jenkinson, Co-founder and CEO of Baidam Solutions, will share the story of this Indigenous-owned ICT security consultancy, which dedicates 52% of its profits to the community it serves. The keynote will cover the company's vision, mission, successes, challenges, and key lessons learned throughout its journey. This compelling talk will not only cover insightful topics but also initiate important discussions that have been long overdue. It will address topics relevant in today's media without any technical references, allowing the audience to relax and enjoy this inspirational story, which is, quite simply, "remarkable." Speaker Bio: Pip and his business partner, Jack Reis, have collectively received several awards, including the 2022 Young Indigenous Entrepreneur of Australia, the CBA Cyber Diversity and Inclusion Award, and the inaugural AusCERT Diversity and Inclusion Award. They were named the Indigenous Cyber Executives of Australia 2023 and have actively advocated for role models over mud-slinging in Indigenous radio and print media. The duo has funded two lifetime scholarships for Indigenous students pursuing STEM at national universities and numerous SANS scholarships. The First Nations recipients of these scholarships are now part of SOC teams at some of the world's most prominent brands. Pip currently resides in Perth, where he is establishing the west coast node of the Baidam Security Operations Centre. A veteran, Women Speak Cyber mentor, avid gardener, rugby union enthusiast, and devoted father to his beloved 5-year-old English Staffy, Thumper, and 4-year-old human son, Truman.
