Update 13/03/2020 - BSides Melbourne 2020 is postponed
We have unanimously decided that for the health and safety of our community BSides Melbourne 2020 will be POSTPONED until further notice. The global COVID-19 pandemic is unprecedented - something that no-one have ever seen before. Until yesterday, we thought we could make BSides happen this weekend. But we just can’t. During these unpredictable times, we must all do our part and do the right thing for our communities, our families and ourselves. BSides Melbourne is a not-for-profit community event, run solely by volunteers. We run it because we want to identify and grow existing talent, connect people with job opportunities and create an environment where people can learn. This is our mission and sole conference objective. We ask you to stand with us and support this decision as we work around the clock to get as much as information as we can to you all. What does this mean for you? 1) Our Sponsors we are reaching out to you individually, and hope you will continue to support this event as we work hard to reschedule the conference as soon as it's feasible. Without your support, these events would not be possible, so we thank you for your understanding. 2) Our Participants We would like you to hold onto your ticket for when we run this event in the future. However, if you would like a refund, instructions have been sent to you. We do hope you will stand with us as we have committed to donate our ticket sales to the Australian Bushfire Appeal. 3) Our Speakers We know how hard you have worked on your talks. We are reaching out to you all independently to determine what this all means, especially those who have flown in from other parts of the country. 4) Our Volunteers We just want to say thank you, and hope that you will be part of our new event when it happens. This decision was made late yesterday, so please bear with us as we work through the details. We don't have all the answers for you yet, but we will be as transparent as possible with you all. Thank you for your understanding. To be honest, we are pretty disheartened, but we know we are making the right choice.
